Our travertine pieces are sealed

Each Duneela Maison piece is treated with a sealant that is both water- and oil-repellent, designed to withstand everyday life. This treatment prevents water, grease, and oil from penetrating the stone. It is food-safe and does not alter the colour or appearance of the surface. We recommend applying a new coat of sealant every 2 to 3 years (depending on use) to maintain protection. As travertine is naturally porous, resin is used to achieve a smooth finish and enhance waterproofing.

Travertine is naturally resistant to water — one of the reasons this stone is so often used for swimming pools and terraces.

How to care for travertine furniture

To clean your travertine table, mild soap or a neutral-pH soap is the best option. Dampen a microfibre cloth with warm water and a little soap, then clean the surface using gentle circular motions. Finish by drying thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.

What is the best cleaner for a travertine table?

Marseille soap or black soap are recommended for everyday cleaning of your Duneela Maison piece. They care gently for the travertine stone without damaging its protective layer. A specialised stone cleaner can also be used.

How to remove stains from travertine

We recommend treating stains immediately to preserve the stone's brilliance and avoid damaging the sealant. For stubborn stains, baking soda or hydrogen peroxide can help (check safety instructions and always test on a small, discreet area first). If you're ever unsure, feel free to contact us.

Products to avoid on travertine furniture

Travertine is sensitive to acidic products — especially vinegar and red wine — which can damage the protective layer. Avoid abrasive or acidic household products such as vinegar, lemon-based cleaners, ammonia, or bleach. Powder-based products are also not recommended.
